Plucking grey hair and using hena (Hair dye).

Q; Women also can't pluck gray hair also? N what about henna on hair for men n women?

A; All-Praise is due to Allah,

It is permitted to dye the hair with henna or any other substance that will give it a reddish or yellowish colour, because it is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to dye his hair with yellow. Muslim reported that Abu Bakr dyed his hair with henna and katam and that ‘Umar used to dye his hair with henna. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also said, “The best things with which you can change this grey hair are henna and katam.”
Reported by Imaam Ahmad, Abu Dawood, al-Nisaa’i, al-Tirmidhi, and classed as saheeh. Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah, 5/166-167

As for plucking gray hairs Al-Nawawi said in al-Majmoo’ (1/344): It is makrooh to pluck out grey hairs, because of the hadeeth of ‘Amr ibn Shu’ayb from his father from his grandfather, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Do not pluck out grey hairs, for they will be light on the Day of Resurrection.” It is a hasan hadeeth that was narrated by Abu Dawood, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasaa’i and others with hasan isnaads. Similarly our companions also said that it is makrooh, as was stated clearly by al-Ghazaali, al-Baghawi and others. If it were said that it is haraam because the prohibition is stated so clearly, that would not be far off the mark, and there is no difference between plucking hairs from the beard or the head. End quote.

To save confusion of the terminologies of the Scholars when they state something is Makrooh this means that it is disliked not Haraam. The explanation of Makrooh by the Scholars means that if you leave this action then one is rewarded it for it, and if they perform this action they are not sinful for it. As opposed to something that is Haraam in which the Scholars defined as, If one leaves this action their rewarded for it, and if they perform it then they are sinful for it...

And Allah knows best...
