Q;As salem aleikum brother,
I have a question I wish to ask please.
Why do we say Bismillah before we eat or drink and do we say it 1 time or 3 times ?
A;All-Praise is due to Allah,
Saying Bismillah is an order from our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he said, “Every important word or matter that does not being with name of Allah (Bismillah) is maimed.”
Related by Imam Ahmad in al-Musnad
As for saying Bismillah before eating one should only say it once because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
" Say Bismillah, eat with your right hand and eat from whatever is next to you."
(Sahih Muslim)
